At the end of last year I heard about a very innovative PhD program which is done through a consortium of 7 universities and 7 private sector, public sector and civil society actors. This program is based on the investigation of the socio-economic and socio-spatial dynamics of the (peri-)urban and regional foodscape and is carried out through 12 different research topics. Some of the learning/research/activities will be carried out in Wageningen (Holland), some in Pisa (Italy), and some at the host university of the 12 research topics and the entire program length is 3 years and it starts in June.
I have just completed the application process and found out today that I've been accepted to one of the two positions I applied for!! The university I will be hosted at is in Riga (Latvia), and I'll be researching public action for urban food system resilience. The program is unique, innovative, and many of the instructors/mentors in the program are very well respected in their field, so I feel incredibly lucky to be selected to participate.
eeeepp!!! I'm so excited about this!!
