the land of milk and honey

After a month on home soil I'm off again, this time to occupied Palestinian Territory - the title the UN uses for the area most of us know as the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. I *really* wanted this position and so I'm quite excited (and a bit nervous) to be working in the region.

For a long time the context there has interested me and now I will have the chance to see what the real situation is on the ground and not through the filters the media presents it to us through. I want to see with my own eyes what is happening and how it affects people living in this ongoing and relentless conflict. My contract is only for 6 months and so I'm sure I will barely scratch the surface but at least I will be able to make up my own mind about what I see and experience rather than have a media outlet tell me what to think.

I'll be based in Jerusalem with a lot of work in both Gaza and the West Bank, where I'll be supporting the work of the Food Security Coordinator in technical backstopping of the various programs currently being implemented. More on the job itself when I arrive and get a better handle on what exactly I'll be doing.
